VOTING TO UPDATE THE OCBC CONSTITUTION

OCBC Members will be asked to approve some changes to the Club’s Constitution at the upcoming Annual General Meeting on 13th September 2020.

Read what the changes are about

The original OCBC Constitution was adopted when the Community and Boating organisations at OP joined forces. Like many such constitutions, changing times and practices indicate a need to look at updating, tidying and clarifying some aspects of this important pillar of the OCBC.

Areas we have addressed in the proposed Constitution include:

-
Revising the objects and purposes of our club;
-
Tidying up our membership categories;
-
Revising the governance of the club, committee composition and terms of service;
-
Financial management adjustments, reflecting adoption of electronic banking.

The changes are straightforward and are all explained on this website and in correspondence directly with Members.
Please note, the existing OCBC Constitution outlines that Members must be present at the AGM in order to vote on the adoption of the new Constitution. We are unable then to take proxy votes on this issue.

So Members, we need you to find the time to review the proposed changes and updates that the Committee has approved should be made to our Constitution in order to keep our club’s most important guidelines current and relevant.

Thank you all.

The Special Resolution states:
That the Constitution of the OCBC be altered and updated as approved and presented by the Committee of the Club.
The OCBC Committee approve and strongly endorse these changes to our club’s guiding rules. We believe they are important for the future progress of the OCBC and so ask all Members to consider these and to vote on their adoption – or otherwise – at the club’s upcoming AGM.
